Business coaching doesn’t fit all entrepreneur’s needs. Sometimes, you have a select few questions that you need answered.
Other times, you have the desire to work on your business in one strategy session.
So, what’s the difference between business coaching and business consulting?
Business Coaching
Working with a business coach helps to facilitates growth through questions, guidance, and ongoing accountability.
What coaches typically do:
Help you clarify goals and vision
Improve leadership, mindset, confidence, and decision-making
Ask questions rather than give instructions
Hold you accountable to your own plans
Develop long-term habits and personal effectiveness
When coaching is best:
You want to grow as a leader or founder
You want to think more strategically
You’re stuck and need clarity, motivation, or focus
You want to make your own informed decisions (with support)
Business Consulting
A Business Consultant provides expertise, analysis, and a recommended plan — but it’s usually in the short-term with a dedicated focus (ex. one project or one topic).
What consultants typically do:
Diagnose problems in the business
Analyze data, processes, finances, or systems
Give expert advice and detailed action plans
Sometimes implement solutions themselves
Provide specialized knowledge (marketing, finance, HR, operations, etc.)
When consulting is best:
You need expert answers, not just guidance
You want someone to analyze or fix a specific issue
You lack time or expertise to solve a problem internally
You need a framework, strategy, or system created for you

I’d like you to meet Sara!
Sara started her landscape design business a few years ago and has had great success and growth. She has proven that there is a market for her services and made $200K in sales last year.
When we connected, she wanted help with understanding if she could financially afford to hire 1-2 junior designers, start leasing an office space and/or draw an income of $100K per year.
After chatting for 15 minutes, Sara clarified that she had no experience with budgeting, projecting cash flow or understanding what the reports showed in her accounting software.
She was currently working with a business coach but they didn’t offer financial forecasting, budgeting or training to help her understand the numbers that made her business.
She started to get quiet and shared that she was awkward and embarrassed to admit that she didn’t honestly know how she had made the money she had so far and really had no idea how to grow those numbers.
Sara signed up for a financial strategy consultation and received 3 potential strategies to implement that matched her goals.
I reviewed each strategy in detail with Sara, as well as helped her identify the specific areas of her business to make decisions on to hit those financial growth milestones that would allow her to hire, lease and pay herself the income she desired.
We reviewed different budgeting options and how to take these strategies and be able to project future cash flow in the future.
Sara’s feedback included:
“I’ve been complacent too long….you make it not feel so scary.”
“Thank you! I feel so much better about things and can’t wait to start playing with the numbers!”
Can you relate to Sara?

Testimonial
“I entered this program with Jodi for a 6 month period and I am so pleased with the progress I have made with my business. From being involved in 1 on 1 sessions and also group sessions, I have gained invaluable lessons. I learned a lot about myself as a business owner, how far I could push myself, how much I can actually handle and most importantly how much I could delegate. This is really important as an entrepreneur, delegating... and it was tough for me... as I still want to hold on to many things...there are professionals out there that are better at certain things than I am!!!
Jodi is a great listener, she has a wealth of knowledge and is compassionate.
Every business owner out there wanting to GROW their business needs Jodi in their life!!!
I encourage you to at least do yourself a favor and budget this into your life... YOU NEED THIS!”
