As a business coach, one of the most common things I hear from entrepreneurs is this:

“I don’t even know where to start.”

Their to-do list is long. Every task feels important. Every email feels urgent. Every decision feels like it carries weight.

And instead of making progress, they freeze.

This isn’t laziness.

It’s misalignment.

When everything feels urgent, it’s often because your capacity has shifted — but your business hasn’t.

Maybe you’re caregiving.
Maybe you’re navigating divorce.
Maybe you’re dealing with burnout, health shifts, menopause, or grief.
Maybe your nervous system has been on high alert for months.

When real life changes, your energy changes.
Your focus changes.
Your tolerance changes.

But most entrepreneurs don’t adjust their expectations accordingly.

They try to operate at the same level they did in a different season.

And that gap — between who you were and who you are right now — is where urgency lives.

Urgency creates pressure.
Pressure creates paralysis.
Paralysis creates shame.

Then we tell ourselves we need better time management.

No.

You need a reset.

Here’s a simple exercise to try this week:

The 1–10 Capacity Check

Before you plan your day, ask:

On a scale of 1–10, what is my real capacity today?

Then, plan to that number.

If you’re at a 5, plan 50% output.
If you’re at a 7, plan 70%.

Remove 20% of what you think is urgent.

Stop putting so much pressure on yourself to “do more”. Do not be the reason you are burning out!

Leadership is not about pushing harder.

Leadership is adjusting.

And when life throws you a curveball (or 10!), it is even more crucial to pause. Really understand how your life is shifting and allow yourself to reset to build a sustainable business model to keep going but not at the expense of your health or sanity.

It’s not about burning it the ground. It’s not about starting over. It’s about resetting.

If this resonates, I’m hosting a free workshop on March 11 called The Steady CEO.

It’s for entrepreneurs who feel like they’re carrying a lot and need structure — not pressure.

You don’t have to lose your business because life shifted.
You may just need to reset it.
